I got a little carried away.
Under the hood of the stock 93 Thunderbird with the 5.0 HO Engine.
The Basic Bored/Stroked 351, which has 393 CI. It started out with a very healthy Cam Shaft for Naturally Aspirated, 9.5 Compression Ratio, and Ford Z304 Heads. The Intake is a Vic Junior.
It is equippted with a Quickfuel 750 HP Carb, and a Return type Fuel System.
With the stock hood, and the added height of the 351 engine, and Vic Jr intake, limited me to a 2 inch air filter, even when using a drop base filter bottom. This made the engine choked over 3,000 RPMs. Next up is a Cowl Hood for it.
I then installed a Cowl Hood, and that helped a lot. I still needed a larger filter to allow it to breath. I then added a Hood Scoop, which allowed me to easily fit a 5 inch tall filter.
I fabricated a Nascar Style filter enclosure to allow only cool outside air.
This is where it goes from Fast, to Very Fast. This is a Vortech YSi supercharger, which is the same model used my most NMRA Renegade class racers. They routinely run these at 35 PSI. I plan on running mine around 15 PSI to be streetable. The Carb Enclosure works fine below 10 psi, but I had issues above that.
Final setup, a Carb Hat. This required a few more modifications to the carb, but took care of cylinder imbalances, and sure makes any adjustments easier.
